Work hard. Play hard. Why we have decided to improve our playground…
Supporting our student’s natural curiosity and playfulness is essential to their learning. Falls School’s main playground structure is approximately 25 years old and showing its age. Generally wooden playgrounds are expected to last 15 years if well maintained, and 10 years if only minimally maintained. The current structure is no longer “to code” and would never pass a safety inspection for today’s standards and guidelines. On average, every school year one student will sustain a broken wrist while countless others experience slips, trips, falls and splinters as a result of the aged structure or pea stone surfacing.
Our goal? It will cost the PTO approximately $65,000 to upgrade our playground. With the generosity of many Falls families, members of the community, and local businesses, the PTO is already 40% of the way to our goal. We will continue to put our efforts into raising money for this very important cause. Don’t forget to join us at our next fundraiser, the Blue Jean Ball, on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Highland Country Club! Tickets may be purchased on our website – click on Blue Jean Ball above.
